Mudluscious

in Just- spring when the world is mudluscious.... when the world is puddle-wonderful....

Irvine Lake Mud Run 2010 happened this past weekend. I'm not sure if I've ever had so much fun at a race before. Was it so great because friends I never thought would run with me were excited to be there? Was it so great because old friends I ran with in high school were there? Was it so great because Andrew was running it too - individually, and then because he's awesome, again with our team? Was it so great because it was mud and obstacles? Or was it so great because Dramarama was playing afterwards? It just wasn't one thing... it was one of those days where it all came together and was just a fabulous day! And a much needed one at that.

Andrew ran before we did - in the very first wave! He finished 2nd in his age group, and 12th overall (there were over 4,000 runners!) with a time of 27:03 (that's a 6:46/mile pace!). I am one proud mama!!

The course is 3.8 miles of puddles, 3.5 foot walls, whoop-de-doos, pyramids, bear crawl pits, tires, and one big ugly hill! We were ready though even though we were waiting on our final two teammates who got stuck in the traffic trying to get in.

Finally! We all made it, and then Andrew donned a pink t-shirt and ran the whole thing again!! Can you say, AWESOME? Here are some pics from the course.

I have no idea how our team did. The race results page is erroring out, but I will come back once I get our time just to keep it for posterity. But who really cares!! We had a blast, got really dirty, and we all want to do it again!!

I ran high school cross country with these two, Steve and Holly. Sooo great to be back in touch - and racing again! - with old friends!

And introducing.... DRAMARAMA performing Anything, Anything!!

Yeah, John Easdale, the lead singer, was pretty excited to meet me... :)

So as you can see, it just wasn't one thing... But it was definitely mudluscious.
