Why I Picked It:
The premise sounded interesting, and it was one of those books that seemed to be in my face everytime I turned my head. Decided to give it a listen.
My Review:
Oh my gosh. How do I say something nice? Oh, I've got something... This audiobook practically guaranteed me an excellent night's sleep every night I tried to listen to it. I'm not sure it's ever taken me so long to get through an audiobook because....
I did not like this book. It was RIDICULOUS. And the narrator for this one, well, sucked. The story line was completely contrived. Everyone was so naive, unbelievable, over dramatic, but the plot was so annoyingly simplistic. My 4 year old tells more compelling stories. I have read good things about this author and was looking for something fun, suspenseful, along a different vein of book than what I have been reading. I spent more time rolling my eyes.
If this had been a physical book, it would've been listed on Paperbackswap.com before I turned the page to the 10th chapter (which would've been, oh, probably page 17). About those chapters, Dear Author, you don't need to start a new one each time a new character needs to speak. It seemed like every 2 minutes the narrator was announcing a new one. "Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Six..." And over the next two minutes some "stunning" turn of events would occur, followed by a dramatic pause and, "Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Seven..."
My opinion, Think Twice and DON'T bother reading this book. There are many many more worthy ways to spend your time.
Wow Gena! It's not often (if ever?) that you write such a scathing review. It must be a really awful and boring book. I'll definitely pass it by.
