The Airborne Toxic Event

One of my favorite bands right now is The Airborne Toxic Event (others are Silversun Pickups and Blue October, and I'll forever be in love with Eddie K. from Live...). As a rule, I try not to learn too much about the actual bands that I love lest the information cloud my pure enjoyment of their music. But I just got an email about Airborne concert tickets going on sale at 10am this morning, and as I was debating, I clicked on the 'more info' tab.

Something I did not know. The main character in Don DeLillo's novel, White Noise, is exposed to an enormous chemical explosion dubbed "The Airborne Toxic Event"... and a band was born...

It's just like when you are looking to buy a new car and you start seeing it everywhere. Or when you are trying to get pregnant and the world seems overrun with baby bumps. I just finished reading and contemplating Don DeLillo's novel Falling Man, and followed up by requesting Libra off Paperbackswap. Suddenly, I'm hearing Don DeLillo's name everywhere. I'd never even heard of him until a few months ago.

So add another book to my reading list... and in the meantime, if you have no idea who The Airborne Toxic Event are, here's the video for one of their more popular songs.
