So it's not exactly the middle of the year, but it's getting close. I have a confession to make. Since we moved, my to be read pile is not diminishing. Instead, I've been very bad, and have bought more books. PLEASE don't tell my husband! I promise to join PaperbackSwap this week!!
I was just taking a little inventory of what I've read this year, and I'm impressed with myself!! In 2008, I read 23 books. In 2009, to date, I have read... 16 books, 3 short stories, (not including the short stories I listen to on my ipod from the New Yorker and PRI), and 1 play.
Further breaking it down, I have read 5,939 pages this year (that count includes only the books).
I still need to complete Authors C, E, H, I, N, O, Q, R, T, U, V and X. Problem is that I keep finding books I want to read without paying attention to the author's name. I've been duplicating a lot lately. But what's going to happen? Am I going to get kicked out of the blogging world if I don't finish my self-imposed challenge on my personal blog?? Come and get me!! I'll beat you over the head with a Stephanie Meyer tome!
Anyway, here's an example: yesterday, I picked up The Ballad of Abu Ghraib by Philip Gourevitch which I really want to read next. Why? Because I want to know more, this stuff fascinates me! But it's probably not what I should read next because, 1) I've already read a G author, and 2) I'm definitely showing a penchant for books on a serious tone this year and I should just relax a little! (But I like them!!)
But summer is starting soon, and I've decided to read only light and easy, perfect for the pool or beach-type garb until August. Stay tuned.... A minimum of 12 book reviews to come....
