Putting a Plan to the Dream

"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." - Yogi Berra

I just spent over 2 hours mapping out my training plan for the next 35 weeks. That's an intimidating task, but I know myself. If there is not a plan and no one to hold me accountable, I'll put it off. I won't do it. And then come put-up-or-shut-up day, I'll be sauntering home hanging my head, kicking myself, feeling like an idiot. BUT. That's not going to happen to me.

Turns out, in my last post, I miscalculated the number of weeks I had until the half, so I don't actually start my training for that race until June 14th. I have another week to just do whatever I want. :) Small mercies, right?

Here it is. These are my training plans. Click on them to see the detail and hey, if you feel like holding me accountable, call me up on the 4th of July and ask me how my 10 mile run went. :)

Training Plan: Disneyland Half Marathon 9/5/2010

Training Plan: Surf City Marathon 2/6/2011

I have a few other races scheduled into my training. Like on October 16, 2010, I'll be doing the Camp Pendleton Buffalo Alley 10K (which means I need to adjust my training plan a little - I'll switch the workout on the 16th with the 17th), and on January 23, 2011, I'll be doing the Carlsbad Half Marathon as my 12 mile training run. The half is 13.1 miles, but what the hay, what's another 1.1 miles at this point.

So if you have nothing better to do on any of those dates, look up the course, pick a street corner to stand on, and come cheer me on! You have no idea how inspiring a little personal cheering section can be!!
