Week One: Recap

Week One of Marathon Training is complete. Made a few mistakes, but nothing too critical. It's still a much better workout week than I have had for a while. Next week, I will detail my meal plans as well to have on record.

Here's the day to day:

Monday - was supposed to be a "Rest" day, but come on, six miles isn't very much for me to have to recover from. Instead, I did a quick 2 miles on the bike at the gym to warm up, and followed that with upper body and ab work. (2 miles; 8:45)

Tuesday - I waited for #1 Son to get home from school, and took off for a quickie 3 miles around the neighborhood. I am still trying to hold these easy runs between 9:30-10:00/mi pace to keep it at a level I could hold a conversation, but my body keeps wanting to push harder. I have this inner voice telling me to stop being such a slacker. Today I ran to Adele... I think that helped. (3.12 miles; 29:00, 9:20/mi pace)

Wednesday - Ran on the treadmill at the gym today. Trying to love the treadmill because it dictates pace. Also helped that the guy to my right was running the same pace. Followed with a full leg circuit. (4.12; 42:00, 9:31/mi pace)

Thursday - This is my first fail day. I was supposed to do some HIIT, but I couldn't decide what the workout should be exactly, and that lack of planning lead to me doing Nothing. Fail.

Friday - Watched my friend's kids during the day, and intended to run as soon as my husband got home. But he brought home Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey. Is this an excuse not to run? Hell no, but I was so excited, I had a drink and a half before I realized I hadn't run. Decided not to run tipsy. Fail.

Saturday - Due to finishing off that second drink, I was unable to sleep. Didn't make it to the pool for my swim. Another Fail.

Sunday - It was raining this morning, but I didn't care, going so far as to brag to my husband about how I could run in the rain because "I have gear for that!", I came home completely drenched. What a great way to start the morning. Thanks to the girl on the bike for the thumbs up, and the old guy in the grey sweatshirt for the high five. Solidarity! A little rain won't stop us!! (But I definitely need to do a little better on the jacket for those 3 days a year I might need to run in the rain, lol.) (6.14 miles; 58:00, 9:31/mi pace)

Total Miles: 15
Total Time: 2:15
Total Calories: 1393

So, the week started and ended well enough. I need to detail out my HIIT training plan, do Friday runs in the morning, and not drink on Friday nights. Here's to Week Two!

See ya on the streets!
