My Bucket List

My friend Charla got me thinking on this topic with her own Bucket List post. I too have been spending a lot of time thinking about life going forward. For me, it's been more along the strain of, "Now that we're done making the babies and they are getting more settled into kidhood instead of babyhood, what would I like to do next?" I touched on a lot of this when I posted my New Year's goals (so glad I didn't call them resolutions). Those were goals for the year, but because she asked, here are things I'd really like to do in my lifetime.

I haven't even started writing things down yet, but I'm struggling beyond what I know will be the first item (see coming list). I've done so many things that I'm so proud of, many of them while I was a single parent. In those days, I was so determined to make sure that Andrew never fell into any sort of stereotype. I worked really hard, bought my own house, bought my SUV, and made sure he had everything and more. Then, after Craig and I married, so many more of my dreams have come true - I'm a stay at home mom, with a second home, well, I know I'm very lucky.

So this is going to be a good exercise for me. I need some new goals!! And since I have another 50+ years to complete them, this should be easy.
  • Run a marathon.
  • Ooo, AND complete an Ironman Triathlon!
  • Become fluent in another language, maybe Italian? Or Japanese.
  • Travel - Travel - Travel. Italy, Greece, Japan, China, Africa, but maybe we should finish the US first.
  • Go back to school and not stop until I get a Masters degree.
  • Swim with the dolphins, in a natural setting, not a silly pool somewhere.
  • Own a cabin in the mountains. Oh, and a beach house too! (Because I'm not greedy.)
  • Buy a motor home to travel the US.
  • Buy a sewing machine and learn how to use it (curtains! We need curtains!)
  • Learn to sail.
  • Write a book (even if it's only my life story so my children will know who I am besides "mom".)
  • Learn to ballroom dance (not because of DWTS, but because I've always wanted to... Would be even better if Craig would do this with me.)
  • Ride a horse.
  • Own a motorcycle.
  • Become an active volunteer and get my kids involved to teach them the value of giving - at a library, working with kids, elderly, something. We have too much not be giving back in an active, giving of myself sort of way.
  • Read all of the "1001 Books to Read Before You Die".
  • Live somewhere besides California. Craig does work for an international firm - how awesome would a transfer to London be?
Well, that's a start. Everything else I think of right now is just plain ridiculous, and I'm quickly realizing that I'm tired. If blogger still exists 50 years from now, we'll have to check back. Let me label it so I can more easily find it (my old senile self will thank me later.)
