Note To Self

A pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. If you want to lose one pound in a week, you have to create a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories a week, or 500 calories a day. To lose two pounds in a week, you have to create a calorie deficit of 7,000 calories a week, or 1,000 calories a day, and so on. Get the idea?

There are two ways to create a calorie deficit — eat less and exercise. If you want to meet your weight-loss goals, start by comparing your calorie intake against your exercise expenditure. It's not a magic pill, but it's very simple. Find a way to cut and burn more calories and the weight will come off!

And don't be such a flake about logging it... It's free for gosh sakes!

  1. Gena,

Seriously? Oh my gosh. My body does NOT get math. After trying on last year's bathing suit a couple of weeks ago, I yelled, "THAT'S IT!" and put myself on straight proteins and veggies. Cut the fat, counted the calories. Somehow I managed to lose and then gain three pounds in the same week!

After a bad car crash just over a year ago, my ability to exercise has been greatly inhibited, so calorie counting is crucial, but my body doesn't seem to be able to count!!

I've come to the conclusion that having a muffin top is my lot in life. I swear at it a lot, but it doesn't seem to care.
